Brad, Thia, and Trinette before the race.
I was almost to the finish line.My Experience
1. The Ultimate Challenge.
2. I live so close to such a beautiful mountain.
3. 3:08 The time it took my husband to get up the Peak last year.
4. A goal to help me stay in shape.
5. Signed up 5 months ago and took me 5:58:51 to get to the top.
6. 60.5% O2 at the top.
7. Over 7,000 Elevation Gain.
8. The Girl hiking beside me who has done it 8 times.
9. The saying in my head "Just keep moving, just keep moving!
10. The unity between complete strangers on the trail.
11. The disappointment that over came me when I realized I would not make it up in less than 5 hours.
12. The tears I shed at the top when I hugged my sister.
13. 13.32 Miles
14. Finish 14,115'
I will do the Pikes Peak Ascent again. The ultimate question is when.
It is amazing what we can accomplish when we put our mind and heart in to it. I love the feeling that I conquered the mountain. It was grueling, overwhelming, and worth it. I have overcome major trials in my life and when I finished this race it reminded me how far I have come.
My Theme Song by Miley Cyrus "The Climb"
There is always going to be another mountain
Always gonna want to make it move
Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb
