When I was a little girl I loved watching my dad run. He would go out for runs with his friend. He would go out to the garage, sit down and lace up his running shoes. I wonder how long he ran in those same shoes? Now a days they say 6 months or so many miles and you need new shoes. I remember going to local runs around town and watching him race. Guess what gadgets he had, running shoes, t-shirt, and shorts. That's all folks.
I feel a little silly sometimes going out for my long runs with all my gadgets. I don't use my ipod as much, I really enjoy listening to the sounds of nature. My garmin use to be an addiction. I would look at it all the time, but now I look at it only when I really need to.
My gadgets for my 10 mile run this morning

Okay, that is so funny... only because I'm a runner, too. I laugh at how much crap I take with me! I started reducing my load a while back and maybe I'm not as safe, but boy to I feel lighter. I now try to figure out my runs where I can make a pit stop and get rid of the belt all together. And when I can't then of course I take it. But I don't take a cell with me anymore, and I gave up on carbs. I just fuel on Gatorade instead of water. The things we do to run!!! I'm glad I'm not the only crazy out there. :)
So funny, because it's TRUE! :) There is gear for everything. I've been thinking of investing in one of those water bottle belts for the longer runs. I get so parched here in the dry weather, but the camelbak seems like too much.
I'm very impressed with your ten-miler, gear or not!
Neet gadgets. Back in the days, our runs were simple, but invigorating: we ran the "HORN", 3 mile, 6 mile and the 10 mile-all measured by the speedometer on the car. And definitely, there no cell phones or blogs back then-just the typewriter.
