The Castaways

This is the "I think I have almost survived football season look"
Nathan has been reffing high school football for 9 years. It is not a bad deal getting paid for something you LOVE doing. We can use the extra money and that is how he got into reffing football and lacrosse. Every year I think it is going to get easier, but it just doesn't. Nathan has been gone every Friday night for the past 11 weeks. He also has games on the week nights and Saturdays too. The football crews rotate each year who gets to ref the football championship games and Nathan is finally up for it after all these years. As of now he will be reffing a Championship game at Invesco Field (the Denver Broncos Stadium) on December 5th. It is pretty exciting for Nathan.
Anyway, Nathan surprised us last night since he finally did not have a football game on a Friday night. He took us to the Castaways Restaurant in Manitou Springs (since his family has felt like a bunch of castaways for the past 2 and a half months-just kidding) The Castaways is one of those wonderful childhood memories for Nathan. When he was a little boy his grandparents were visiting and took them there and payed for it. That is a pretty exciting for a family of 10 that is poor and NEVER went out to eat. The atmosphere was awesome, the food was okay, but the kids had a blast. They had so much fun on the way there trying to figure out where Daddy was taking them. I finally figured it out when we were just a couple minutes away.

I am so glad that Nathan's reffing is almost over, even though he loves it. The evenings can be so hard with kids, and having dad gone is stressful! But what a great way to celebrate the end and be together as a family again! It looks like a lot of fun!

I used to think that tax season would get easier every year. I finally decided that the only way to make it better was to start a project that I could work on and feel like I actually accompish something. I know that it is hard. Hang in there. Miss you!
