Part of our family vacation was driving up to the top of Pikes Peak. There was two benefits to this trip. One, for the sake of family time and enjoying this beautiful mountain that we live so close to. Two, for Altitude training for my race on Saturday. I have had the opportunity the past two weeks to get altitude training in. I have ran/hiked up barr trail 3 miles. Drove up the peak highway with the family and then hiked down to the 16 Golden stairs sign. I had a three hour training in Manitou where I ran up Ruxton(one of the hills on the race course), hiked up the incline, then ran/hiked up barr trail a ways then ran the 3 mile back down, and then ran down and up and down Ruxton again. My last altitude training before I start tapering was an hour run in Woodland Park. Woodland Park is about 9,000 feet. That was the highest altitude I have ran, I was light headed and nauseated for the first 40 minute, but then I started to feel better. Remember the top of Pikes Peak is 14,000 feet. I will have to really hydrate myself starting 2 days before the Ascent. Pikes Peak here I come!!

I am very impressed with your running skills!! I am amazed anyone can run 4 minutes, let alone 40 minutes, let alone up a mountain.
Hope your race goes fantastic!
Also, thank you for having the kiddos over the other night. You are the best.
All your adventures look so great! How fun to stumble upon the Broncos training camp. And The pictures from Pirates Cove look so fun and refreshing! And Pike's Peak, lovely. Man, I am so excited for you! It is going to be the run of your life! Good luck, I hope the altitude is good to you!
