Our Birthday Boy!!

Our sweet Aivan is 5 today. I'm thankful he made it into the world safe and healthy. Aivan was born 4 weeks early due to the car accident I was in. Geez, that was scary! Sometimes to this day I look at Aivan and get flash backs of the car accident. Dr. Weary walked into my hospital room shocked to see me. I just had an appointment with him a few hours earlier. It was a Crazy day. Dr. Weary had sent me to the hospital to be checked out with some concerns he had. I was at the hospital for a couple hours and then they sent me home with a clean bill of health. I was on my way to grab some food (I was starving of course) and then pick up Olivia and Grace from my friend Karen's house. Well, let's just say I didn't make it. I ended up in a ambulance to the hospital. They took care of my needs in the emergency room and then sent me down to labor and delivery. They did a bunch of test and everything checked out okay, but Dr. Weary was concerned. Aivan was breech prior to the car accident and then after he had turned. Also, I was not dilated at the appointment that morning, but now I was dilated to a 1 and the monitor was picking up contractions. Dr. Weary decided it was in the best interest of the baby and me to deliver (he was very concerned with unforeseen problems). He wanted us to give the finally okay. We were struggling with the decision and then Dr.Weary finally said "Let me put it this way; "If you were my wife you would not be leaving the hospital." We knew we needed to put our faith in the Doctor. He was born healthy except for being jaundice. We called him our blue baby, because of the light bed he was in at home. He was only under the light for a week, but the whites of his eyes were yellow for three months. We feel blessed beyond measure that it all worked out. I do remember crying while nursing Aivan in the hospital because I was in so much pain from the car accident. The pain I could deal with knowing my sweet boy was okay.
We finally settled in to the life with three children and Aivan's dramatic entrance into the world. Then the phone call came "Hello this is Bishop Duke can I meet with you and your Husband in your home". Yikes! I was called as Relief Society President when Aivan was 6 weeks old. Let's just say the next four years were full of blessings and sacrifices for my little family. We had two miscarriages and Teva was born during the four years I was Relief Society President and we lived in a ward that was very needy.
Aivan cool boy!

Aivan was getting into the trash and then he fell trash and all.

Grace and my thumb sucking Aivan.

Aivan getting into flour.

Aivan got into my mascara.

Aivan was my get into everything child. I use to feel like I lived in a prison because I had to lock up everything and put up everything. He still managed to find messes to make or scare his sisters. One day my girls were screaming help, help! Aivan had dumped out the laundry detergent and was spraying Olivia and Grace with shout. He was a great sleeper, but he had also found his thumb. It is cute, but I would rather it be the pacifier. It is not like I can take his thumb away. He still loves his thumb! Aivan was also our spit up boy. He literally projectile pucked until he was a year old, it was awful. He was always wearing those big hand towel bibs. Olivia ended up with Aivan's spit up in her mouth. Poor girl and it wasn't just a little spit up. Yuck!! Thank you sweet boy for being a part of our family . You sure make things exciting around here. You are one tough boy.

I was laying in the recovery room in a drug induced haze after my sinus surgery thinking "I forgot something?"

Now I remember - Aivan's birthday! It was driving me nuts the last two days that I couldn't remember what it was and I knew it was important and yes it is!

Happy Happy Happy Birthday you lovely boy!

The time goes too fast . . .
